About the property
This attractively converted former church boasts superb views of the Small Isles and the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye. The building was erected in the 1850s and retains much of the original wood and other features. It was the mission church for the Kilchoan parish until the Church of Scotland sold it to the present owners in the late 1980s.
Western Ardnamurchan is a paradise for those who love the natural world and Kilmory is a quiet crofting township which is teeming with wildlife. Skylarks, birds of prey, wild orchids, pine martins, shore life and other flora and fauna abound. The seashore is a short distance away. Walking in the area ranges from easy saunters to moorland hikes and hill walks. There are many geological and archaeological features of interest.
A small entrance porch leads to a separate spacious utility room with Belfast sink, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. The main living area comprises a dining and comfortable seating area with wood burning stove and a well equipped kitchen. To the north lie views of the Minch, Small Isles and Skye.
The upstairs mezzanine bedroom has a double bed with views of the islands to the north and Ben Hiant, western Ardnamurchan’s only mountain to the south. The bathroom includes bath and separate shower. The smaller bedroom has full sized bunk beds. Night storage heaters provide background heating to the wood burner, under floor heating in the bathroom and utility room to provide some back ground heating. To the back of the house is a fenced garden area with a generous log store.
