This restored Black House,
perched on rocks beside a secluded white sand beach, is reached
only by a 150m scramble along the Portuairk to Sanna footpath.
It is a unique experience for the adventurous, for the nature
lover and for those seeking seclusion. It comprises: open plan
kitchen / living room, with one double sofa bed and one single
folding chair bed, multi-fuel stove, electric cooker, fridge,
shower room with toilet. There is no cleaning between lets (too
remote) and it is essential to arrive in daylight |

- " Our second visit to this wonderful place.
With a cottage and view this beautiful we had no need to go far.
Spent our time watching the tides, weather, boats sailing by,
and the wildlife Really enjoyed the peace and remoteness, a beautiful
relaxing week."

- " What a lovely environment this little cottage
is located; bristling with energy of nature yet at the same time
very tranquil and peace filled. The views from Rudh Dubh and
the surrounding hills are indeed panoramic and breathtaking.

MY FAVOURITE place in Scotland is Rudh Dubh. It is a tiny cottage beside the sea – Mummy says it’s at Portuairk, on Ardnamurchan.
Beside the cottage is a turquoise bench. If you sit on the bench you can see hundreds of rocks as black as soot and a very blue sea.
I can see grassy mountains. Mummy says they are islands – one is called Muck. There are four beaches. Most of the time the sea covers the beach, but when the sea goes away the sand is wet and you find lots of seaweed. There are sea worms that bury in the sand, and I collect hermit crabs – they have pointy shells and tiny little claws. I go into the sea and splash around with my wetsuit on. It’s freezing!
I saw a giant fish. It was a gigantic flat fish. It was in the river that went to the sea. We got some tadpoles there and they grew back legs and front legs, and we let them go into their pond on the big rock.
