Portuairk West Coast of Ardnamurchan

Portuairk is a most delightful Crofting Township with lots of small beaches to explore and outstanding views across to Rhum, Eigg, Muck and the Cuillins of Skye.

This small community has a long seafaring tradition -The name Portuairk was originally Port-na-Gruaigean. Gruaigean is thought to be Gaelic for a species of seaweed, a sweet-tasting edible variety that was in abundance in those days. “Bay of the Primroses” or “Bay of Happiness”, are also possible translations.
